PRAYER PARTNER

Introduction

What might happen if we at Shelbyville Community Church (SCC) emphasized praying for one another? Would we develop stronger bonds? Would we experience increased compassion? Would we become more perceptive to God’s work in each other’s lives? The answer is “yes” to this and so much more! By talking with God on behalf of each other, we grow deeper in our love – something Jesus not only emphasized, but commanded.

You have received the name(s) and an email address for the person/family you’ll pray for throughout the year. We encourage you to reach out to them regularly to let them know how you’re praying for them. Give them the opportunity to share any specific requests or additional information, but only as much as they choose to reveal to you. Even if you know only their names, you can pray in very specific ways. This booklet will help.

Using a framework from the Pray for Me Campaign, this booklet provides 7 prayer topics – one for every day of the week. Each topic has a description, a scripture, and a suggested prayer. You may find additional prayer resources online at insidescc.org/prayer-partner. We hope that you will use these tools to develop and deepen your prayers – to apply what God lays on your heart to pray for your partner(s).

Finally, we have provided a place for everyone to share stories of their journey throughout this campaign. Whether you are the giver or receiver of prayers, we would love to hear how God is working in your lives. You may share your stories at insidescc.org/prayer-stories.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Pastor Lee (Lee@shelbychurch.org) or Pastor Angeline (Angeline@shelbychurch.org). Thank you for being a Prayer Champion for your brothers and sisters at SCC!

As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God. For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ. And they will pray for you with deep affection because of the overflowing grace God has given to you. Thank God for this gift, too wonderful for words!
